Kathy Wieland

Kathy is a retired teacher from St. Louis, Missouri, where she taught vocal music and language arts to junior high school students. After retirement, she began interviewing her parents gathering family stories and discovered a love for genealogy. Researching in the Special Collections of the St. Louis County Library and St. Louis Public Library were a perfect fit for the former teacher. After researching seven related families, friends began to ask her to research for them. Her first research involved a child placed in a Catholic orphanage in Saint Louis in 1912. That search led to a set of 4 microfilms of orphan records that subsequently connected 29 orphans with their families.

Books, Photos and More

She also began buying old photos with names, booklets, and books. She would do some research and try to connect them with family members. Many of those contacts asked her to do research in St. Louis and surrounding areas.
