Notes: I recently bought this church history book because I believe it will be a wonderful addition to a Jacob Dornseif family member or family researcher. The booklet has many photos of the interior and exterior of the church. There are also photos of Sunday School classes and church committees.
"A number of the founders of Zion had been members of Trinity Church and then later when Immanuel Church was organized, affiliated with it. The first Trinity Church was on Lonbard Street, between Third and Fourth Streets. The trip to church was a long one, there being no street cars or buses. Immanuel Church was only one-half the distance, but still a far way for the children. On November 30, 1858, eithteen members of Immanuel organized the Northern Evangelical Lutheran School District. These men are, therefore, the real founders of Zion Church. We present their names in alphabetical order: John Frederick Bockermann, Henry Rudolph Bramsch, Henry Brueggemann, Henry Dammeier, Jacob Dornseif, William Ellersiek, Dietrich Fangmann, Henry Holzkamp, Henry Koelter, Frederick Christian Lange, Henry Penningroth, Frederick Sachleben, Frrederick Schneller, Hermann Spielmann, Albert Steinmeier, William Wellmann, Henry Wemhoener."
There are also photos of the first pastors including the following: Rev. J. F. Buenger, Rev. W. C. Boese, Rev. George Link, Rev. Henry Sieck, Rev. Charles F. Obermeyer, Rev. Louis Sieck.
There are photos of the schools including the first school at Fourteenth and Warren Streets in St. Louis, MO, and the school located at 20th and Benton Street.
There are also lists of the teachers who taught at Zion Lutheran and some photos of them. There are also photos of the classes at the school.
This is such a wonderful historical piece of memorabilia.
